@bob600,
Quote:
It’s just the word nothing that is confusing call it “queop” “Queop is the container for space” that sounds better.
Not to me

Quote:
Logically it would seem that “everything” can be removed from something leaving nothing,
I suppose but I don’t know how you remove space

Quote:
it’s when you then try and remove “nothing” that you run into trouble.
Don’t understand. Of course in a state of nothingness there’s nothing to remove

Quote:
Is there such a thing as zero?
Not sure this q makes any sense

Quote:
If there is then there must be nothing as well.
This too leaves the Average Clod (me) running in circles

Quote:
If something fills something then the something it fills is the container. Space and all the bits fill “nothing” so nothing is the container
The term “container” implies dimension but nothingness has no dimension so space can’t fill it. Semantics

@dalehileman,
Once you can accept the universe as matter expanding into nothing that is something, wearing stripes with plaid comes easy.

Doubtless my hero Albert Einstein means something very profound but I’m not sure he meant to equate nothing with something. Doubtless the Universe is expanding but not "into” something since there’s nothing outside it

There simply isn’t an outside
