Yeah, at least I am not bitching at the sick one...... not yet, anyway.
By the way, arji, welcome to a2k.
No need to bitch at the sick one. <s> that's what other people are for. and thanks. when my pm status is active, I may say "thanks"again. <smiles, for real>
A visit to the dentist made me grimmace and grit my teeth today, in more ways than one.
I reckon it's time you struck a fair deal from your sister, k. Either that, or move on to other things, if it suits you. She is obviously looking after her own interests. Fancy expecting you to work when you have a 104 temperature!
try to trap S and C with L in one room for awhile, maybe she'll be less insistent on you coming next time you're sick, lk...
ok, maybe not, but it's a tempting thought, isn't it?
My friend "Susannah" - the one who works in the cool cafe across the road - was sacked last night! I cant believe it, what ass holes. Crazy, too, cause it wasnt like she didnt deliver good business: there were many people who came especially on evenings she worked. (In fact, someone said it mighta been jealousy.)
Anyway, it sucks majorly. They told her at the beginning of the evening, when she still had to work all night. And its not like it earned anything (400 euro a month or so, for three long nights a week), and she was already looking for another job, but still, she hasnt got anything else right now.
Also - cue egoistic perspective - the place was a bit of an extra home thanks to her, and I got to meet a lot of people through her, darnit.
Had to grin a bit today, when I heard that Müntfering is to become Germany's new minister for labor and the Vice Chancellor:
when he was in a similar position years back, I made a tv-interview with him.
That was a couple of days before the elections. The public funded 'open tv' wasn't allowed to due any election/party 'commercials. So he 'visited' the information stalls etc my charity had erected at a SPD family party in a huge park. And on this occasion I interviewed him ...
They made a 45 min special out of it. I only saw a copy of a copy once - but it is said to be longest interview he ever made [in those days]
That's neat, Walter!
Sorry about Susannah's difficulty..
Biting my tongue about your sister, lil'K.
I am biting my tongue too. I have told her her husband's nicer to her when she's sick than she is to him. She had him drive her home early again today. I told her that was silly, she said she felt dizzy. Duh! I felt pretty dizzy with that ear infection and she had me driving her kids around...... grrrr. She said she thought she should maybe go to the hospital. I laughed at her. And, because she is sick and I was trying to show some empathy, at least not lambast her, I said perhaps she was over-sensitive the the feelings of being sick because she didn't get sick very often. I tried to be nice and she cut me off and shushed me.
Something that actually pissed me off a week and a half ago, but thinking about it today pissed me off again.
My roomate took off on Oct 3rd for LA for 10 days or so, without paying his rent.
I'd so love to greet him back home by making him swallow his teeth. It's just not cool.
oh christ, lk, lemme at her!!! no? ok. but grrrrrr. what's she doing at work anyway when she's sick? so that the whole office can get sick? ok, i'll join the queue of tongue biters.
I know! I try to 'splain te dynamics, but she says: everyone does it. Pshaw!
Everyone did it when I worked with a lot of deadlines... always too few people, too many deadlines. Burnout city.
But, the deal is, I see you not pointing out to her what is clear to us, that she had you going to work with her children, and I gather driving, with a high temperature and feeling like hell, and showed no sympathy. How come she gets to be queen material? (sorry...). Paying you doesn't make her queen. Boss, I get that, but there seems to be some usage going on.
Held in anger can come out emotionally and not really be as effective as a simple comment (er, as we all know).
I'm guessing you don't want to rock the work boat until you are ready to do something else.. (so not my business). I have done that, and not all so long ago either. Gnaws away at one.
Osso, mostly I'm just waiting til she feels a bit better.
Which is kind, not to comment when someone is down.
I'm outta here, you have your own dynamic and I'm not all so wise..
So what's putting YOUR nose out of joint today?
my colds.. hehe.
Don't you just love those, Clary!
<cringe> cervi.... ugggh!
my whole left side of the head (my head) hurts - ear, tonsil, teeth... nasty upcoming cold or sumtin.
