@vonny,
I certainly agree with you. When I lived in NY, I could not stand the cold winters, so I wanted to move to Florida Now, in Florida, I can't stand the heat from June- Sept., and the humidity is worse.

They say, "Be careful what you wish for.......you might get it". I say, "amen" to that!

Not the fact that my neighbor took me to lunch, that was very nice of her.

The cost though.

When I looked at the menu, I noticed Everything was what I considered Really Expensive. But, she wanted to take me here, so....ok.

My tiny lunch, which consisted of maybe 3 oz raw tuna, about 5 raw snow peas, and some kind of radish cut up, maybe a tablespoon, along with some ginger (which I hate), and some firey hot oil thing...oh, and about 1/4 of a teaspoon of chopped up cashew cost $25.

It was me, her and her daughter. Besides their equally to me overpriced lunchs, they got a crudite of vegetable for the table with some humus and pesto. I'm sure with the tip and beverages she had to have dropped $100.

When I got home I fried 2 pasture raised eggs, which I buy in the 18 packs, in some avocado oil, and covered with sharp cheddar cheese, for probably around $1. I had to, I was hungrier when I got home then when I left to go to her house.

Well, the company was good.

I gritted my teeth when I learned that the supreme court of the US authorized the bigotry of Donald Trump based on religion. https://www.bostonglobe.com/opinion/2018/05/18/the-president-vile-bigot/1euZENDiQbsexRdsSDnlcO/story.html

@vonny,
This guy at the pool today who had no understanding that the lap lanes (there are 3 roped off lanes that can accomodate 6 people) are actually for people swimming laps.

Even after one of the lifeguards told him the lanes were restricted for lap swimmers, he kept ducking under the ropes to "hang out" in the water at the end of the lane. Occassionally he would venture out into the lane, paddling out maybe 20 feet and back again, with no concept of staying one his side of the lanes. A couple of times he actually ducked under more ropes, into other lanes that already had 2 people.

Guess who he was sharing the lane with?

Finally, it seemed to dawn on him the the other 5 people where moving along smartly in the water, and got out.

I am so ******* tired.

Took my husband to the doctor today, over something that started on Friday. I was hoping she'd send an order to admit him to the hospital (which she agreed he needed), but she said I'd have to take him to the ER, and let them decide from there.

Ok, that's cool. While waiting for physician to come in, other tests were taken, lots of hours passed, the usual.

What got me was when these 2 doctors came in. One of them seemed to be more in charge. At one point he asked me a question about one of his meds, and I told him I didn't know the answer.

He said "Do you have your cell phone?"

Me: yeah

Him: Show it to me.

Me: Uh, ok, do you just want to use my husbands? (it was lying on the bed and he was asleep.

Him: No, I was you to show me your cell phone.

Me: Sure....here....

Him: There is a place in there called "notes". That is where you need to put in all his meds, and when he takes them, and anything that happens with him.

He had not said the words "I want him admitted" yet, so my "**** you you ******* ****" was totally in my head.

FWIW he was not from america, don't know from where, but I imagine some country where a woman is glad just to not get bitch slapped some days.

@chai2,
In the past, huge profits were announced in spam mails, today it is claimed that the recipient was filmed while watching porn.
I grieve for the time when spam mails still promised good things to harm.

@chai2,
My go to answer when someone asks if I have my cellphone, the answer is 'no I don't'.....even if it is sitting in my grubby paw.) There is absolutely no legitimate reason for the asshole doc to confiscate your phone.

@glitterbag,
He wanted to show me what my duty as a “good wife” was, and I wanted my husband admitted. He seemed like the type that would have denied admittance if he couldn’t first throw his superiority around. <shrugs>

My minor grimace yesterday...

I’ve talked before how I love San Miguel, and my only dislike is having to drive to Centro occasionally. We had gone down there Monday to add husband to bank account, and was told I could come back myself in a couple of days to pick up his debit card.

Yesterday I left at 2:15 drove down the hill at a max of 14 km per hour circled forever and finally found a spot about a km from the bank, uphill walking all the way. Got to bank, waited a while. Was told that the person who could give me my card was off today, come back tomorrow.

Walked back to car to find a parking patrol person just finishing up writing me a ticket, even though I was clearly in the permitted parking area. She had already removed the plate off my car. I am just thankful I caught her before she left. If I hadn’t it would have been a days project getting it back.

Instead all she had to do was go through the motions, ask me if I “wanted to pay it now” and she walked and I followed her driving around the corner where I handed her 400 pesos and she handed me back my license plate.

Got back home at 3:45, drove a total of 3 miles, out $20, nothing accomplished.

@chai2,
Arrrgh now I’m really pissed.

Went back down to the bank Again to pick up the atm/debit card.

Rinse repeat with the parking, went in and asked to card.

Told husband had to be there to sign for it.

I had specifically asked 2 different ways of the person in charge of this (1) if he had to be there. I was told “no he doesn’t” and then asked if I could get it myself and was told “yes you can” and was today told by the same person, who speaks perfect English, that he doesn’t remember anything like that.

I lost it. I told him he had specifically asked him twice about this, that he told me which day to come back, and he wasn’t there, and now I have to come back a Forth time?
Then I told him that last year it took SEVEN separate trips to the bank because every single time I was told I needed one more thing, when each time after the 2nd trip I asked if there was going to be anything else and was told no.

I hate this bank but have to use it because it’s the only one my property manager goes through.

I totally expect and am used to a lot of day to day things being different and happening at it’s own pace. Not in banking though.

Ridiculous.

@glitterbag,
Couldn't go shopping for my "new" car. Lost my 2006 Acura TL to a lost transmission. The cost of repair or replacement wasn't worth the value of the car, so I sold it to the owner of the repair shop.

So Cardinal George Pell is found guilty, but the media suppression continues?

Old boys club much? Grrrrrrrrrr etc.

@Builder,
Slate reported it - but sketchy on details because of the media suppression order. I don't actually have a problem with the order - Pell was found guilty in the 'cathedral case' - he still has to stand in the 'swimming pool case' and the courts don't want the first verdict to influence the second (I think the 'Law & Order' terminology is 'poison the jury').

I understand your frustration - but at least justice seems to being done, and needs to be seen to be done.

The Pope has dropped him from the Vatican inner circle, apparently his 5 year term was up and he wasn't re-appointed. Tonight he's in hospital for unnamed surgery.

He'll definitely be pulling the ill-health card and will get away with a smack on the wrist. Big surprise.

@hingehead,
Thanks Hinge. I wasn't aware that more cases against Pell are pending.

The cracks in our pathetic legal system are becoming more obvious, though.

They saw me trying in the chapel
The tears I shed were fears of boys
Who would grow up and tell about how
I was so happy to enjoy

Just a plain and simple church apse
Where I went to go astray
I should just invent some relapse
As they die from day to day
