Clary, I'm not sure if this helps, but my husband's late father used to run around on his mother. My husband knew who the woman was and had to go to school with her daughter. His dad spent a lot of time and money on his mistress. His dad has been dead for 42 years and my husband is still angry about his father's infidelity. I don't know what the right thing is to do, maybe he is entitled to be angry, it sure isn't my call. It should be a wakeup to those people who think cheating on their spouses doesn't cause any harm. I'm sorry that woman came to your husband's funeral. I can understand that she would grieve, but it was a very selfish and disrespectable way to behave. She should have stayed home.

Hi...

in response to the title of the thread, it wasn't so much grimace and grit my teeth. just made me very very sad and disappointed. Got my exam marks back and they were way beyond expectation. I tried to appeal but both my lecturers (very kindly) pointed out what was wrong and i have to admit they were right about my disappointing mark.

I have to learn a lesson from this.

My car was broken into last nite. They busted out the driver's window and stole the hood! Helluva way to start a week.

Wow!! That really stinks, I am sorry Mac... my friends car was stolen last week and the found it the next day burnt to a crisp 3 towns away (and they think this was done intentionally)

Does your insurance cover it? Question

Yep, $100 deductible on the hood, no deductible on the glass, and I have rental car coverage which is great since I'll probably need a rental car for several days.

Within half an hour the following things happened:
1 roofer put foot through ceiling
2 woman complained about my turning in her driveway and said I should contribute to its upkeep
3 different woman pointed out I had black smoke coming from my exhaust

Take the money the roofer owes you, flip a coin (or something else) at the woman with the sacred driveway, and use the rest of the cash to fix your exhaust.

Yikes, mac.

Weird that they stole the hood of all things, though. Think they were starting to do a more thorough job and they were interrupted?

My theory is that they cruised around looking for a car just like mine (1999 dark green Saturn) because they needed a hood for a car just like it.

What is creeping me out is that now they know where to come when they need more parts.

I woke up extra early to try to take some placement tests in order to enroll in college before work. Because I work full time and overtime and on vacation and all the time I wanted to make sure to spend the least time wasted as possible and called in advance for an appointment. On the phone I had been told that I could walk-on.

I arrived, paid for parking and found the building where the test was actually supposed to be taken (as opposed to the building I was directed to over the phone) only to find that an appointment was needed to take the test.

Only 4 people were there to take the test, and they were just walking into a room with over 20 testing stations. But noooo, the test supervisor (who couldn't be bothered enough to speak audibly or look at me) was resolute in that I would have to schedule an appointment about 2 weeks from now in the middle of business hours.

A fearsome grimace etched itself firmly in my face as I walked back to my car, realizing that in going to college I am ensuring daily fellowship with the most frustrating stupidity of all... that of the unmotivated and hardly caring public servant in a Pythonesque bureaucracy.

For what it is worth, when faced with such crap from my second uni's Registry office - I just used to stand my ground, and not go away. (If I knew they were wrong and bluffing first years, I would say loudly that they were mistaken).

Just don't leave...........do not look mean, do not look angry - just look a little gormless, and utterly, utterly immoveable.

If you can hover sort of in - (but not far enough in to make them defensive/aggressive) - their critical distance it can accelerate your effect.

You may find it works wonders in future battles.....

or not.

(It kind of makes you remain their problem - and creates a sort of dynamic tension that can work wonders....or get you shot in America, for all I know...though it worked in New York for me.)

But - in my extensive experience, it is always worth a try.

I could probably do well to be a bit more confrontational in those situations, but I know that I won't.

In response to the title of this thread:

Being criticised severely for writing rubbish and intending to distort the overall thread when I had no intention of the kind in mind but to put up my post in accordance with the format of the overall thread!

Apparently it wasn't "adult" enough for one member who said he could only call "rubbish rubbish." I didn't even think that the original creator of the thread (who wasn't that member) had an "adult" intention in mind when he created the thread anyway.

I'm not going on that thread again. Evil or Very Mad
