Right. I bulled my way into a needle biopsy the day after I got the big question mammo. That might be a record.

You are absolutely right, it shouldn't matter. But it does. There's a sort of "professional courtesy" thing between doctors.

If I were you, I'd call my primary physician's office back and tell them you couldn't get an appointment for two months, and that isn't acceptable. Ask them to have someone on their staff call the specialist's office for a better time. They can do that. At the very least, you can ask them to refer you to another doctor who can see you within a reasonable time frame.

I may try... the trouble is that my primary doctor is only at the health center (it's a Boston University health services center) twice a week and when there, he's entirely booked (he sees all the sports people with arms/legs injuries...). I may try to get one of the front desk people to call, but i'm skeptical...they don't do that kind of stuff.

Luckily the Monster - the Ex is a plastic surgeon and knows hand surgeons in the boston medical center. I am not sure though how my insurance would work with a different doctor from the one i was referred to.... arrrgh.

Make that THEIR problem, Dag.

First, call the health center and insist they get your doctor to call the surgeon himself AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Remind them of your insurance situation, whatever that may be. Don't worry about inconveniencing them, it's their job. They handle these arrangements every day.

If you meekly follow their timetable, you'll see the surgeon for a consultation in two months, and then no telling how much longer until he can fit you into his surgery schedule. You don't have time for that. You have to be fully recuperated by the time you leave Boston.

Be proactive. Be insistent. Call them several times a day if you need to. Don't take "no" for an answer. Be...well, um...be yourself! (I know you can do it!) Laughing

When I drove on the supermarket's car park this morning, I noticed a lot of smoke coming out of the engine bay.

Nothing was reall on fire, the smoke stopped after a short while, and no cables etc seemed burned.

My horrifying idea that it was the generator didn't go away on the way back home - quite the opposite ... since the control for 'electricty problems' went on.

And unfortunately it was confirmed at the garage this afternoon.

Half a year over the (three years) warrant (and 35,000 km over the 100,000km maximum) don't look like that I could get a rebate neither.
(The garage people will order the new maschine from the producer, though, being a customer of them since decades and always and only driving the same brand ... Might be, I'll get a discount as as a gesture of goodwill.)

It's quite a lot of money in Euros, btw - and a lot more in $$.

Just stating a fact eoe.

Since two of the officers involved were black, I wonder how the race riot that is about to erupt can be justified?

This story has bugged me from the very beginning. Not only did the cops make a mistake, but how the heck did they fire 50 bullets? The semi-auto handguns I'm familiar with only hold up to 15 rounds. If every officer had the same gun then the max would be 45 rounds fired, unless they reloaded or had a second gun. It just doesn't make sense.

One cop did empty and reload. That's how shitty this whole case is.

Two second graders (age 7-8) ran full-speed after a ball at recess. They didn't notice they were running across a street. They didn't hear me screaming for them to stop. They nearly cried I was freaking out so bad. I was still shaking with a twisted up stomach an hour later. It was the thing of nightmares.

The thing is that I am not sure they won't do it again. They had what one parent calls "That German Shepard Look" and what I call "That Long Vision". You know, when a dog sees that squirrel on the other side of town and is going to get it no matter what. Those boys were getting the ball, the road and my yelling didn't even register.
