Thanks, all.
A2K is excellent therapy! I thoroughly recommend it to any of you for when you're feeling a bit bedraggled!
It's not just the
interviews that drive me nuts. It's the damn
process (in government schools, where I've chosen to work, for years) leading to the interview:
Consider up to 6, 7, 8 criteria points like this, each requiring around a page (pt 10) response:
.. Demonstrated commitment & capacity to actively contribute to a broad range of school activities & a commitment to ongoing professional learning to enable further development of skills, expertise 7 teaching capacity.
Then consider that you might have to write 2, 3, 4 + such applications to different schools, each putting a different slant (requiring you to rejig your responses) on the same/similar/different basic issues. Hours & hours & hours chained to the computer.
Then consider that the school may well have a preferred candidate in mind, but is
required by the government to advertise the job, anyway!
Then consider that the school may have decided that they want to select the cheapest candidate possible (poor government schools, they run on the smell of an oily rag these days!) so all that application writing, all those eloquent answers to interview questions could be a complete waste of time, because you're too expensive!
Aggghhhh! I
swear, around October/November of each year, as the current contract is coming to an end, I become a bit strange! Just the thought of going through all this again.
Sometimes a nice, uncomplicated waitressing job can seem very appealing indeed!
