My english understanding isnt so good.

This is what i just read..

"About 4 years ago, a year after my operation, I started looking for a new sporting activity and came across a free self defence class. Soon afterwards, and as a direct consequence I started taking kickboxing classes".

Heres my questions..

@feline999,
The kickboxing class was the self defence class.

@feline999,
The self defence class - soon afterwards, as a consequence, the kickboxing started. (my interpretation Roger).

The answer to your question (you only asked 1 question)
is that it is uncertain what is meant by that text.
It is ambiguous.
You can ask the author, if you encounter him.
I did that once, years ago, when we both attended the same meeting
and she gave a speech.

Note that if you have one question,
then it is better to say: "here 's my question."
If you have multiple questions, then: "here are my questions."

Maybe; not necessarily.
The consequence of the defense classes might have been the kickboxing class.

It was not adroitly written.
