Seth, my youngest cub, REALLY bright and talented, started taking things apart when he was two, sometimes to our great annoyance. He decided instead of college to go to UTI to become a master mechanic. Did all the paperwork and legwork himself at his insistence and got a perfect score on his entrance exams yesterday, took care of his grants and loans and is down there today looking for a part time job and an apartment. Good mechanics make plenty of money and there's always a need for them and it's what he loves so good on him I say. He says he wants his own shop one day (and I'm sure he'll get it) but out of school will go to work for a dealership to hone his craft and get company benefits. Smart kid.
That's awesome. Good luck to him.
Yes, it's more than awesome, even, if that's possible.
In almost every situation, I'd much rather have a good mechanic around than someone with their doctorate in philosophy.
They'd be more interesting to talk to also.
@blueveinedthrobber,
Smart kid, indeed! Excellent career choice.
@blueveinedthrobber,
My father always told me I should do what ever makes me happy. He always said in life the choices we make will either make us happy or leave us miserable but in the end what counts when thinking about how to set goals are not the years we put into our lives but the "life" we put into our years. I live by that today. Congrats to your son!
