@tsarstepan,
Well, I have a number of movies that leave me wondering "what the hell was that about?". My latest on that list is TIN TIN. I was highly disappointed that a famous director would turn his movie into a 2 hour hype for his NEXT MOVIE.
Spielberg often just winds up his movies whenever he gets a call for supper and so the endings are either trite or stupid. I HATE STUPID ENDINGS

@farmerman,
Doc Martin is comedy drama, Father Ted is pure comedy. It's the only sitcom I can watch over and over again.

@farmerman,
I thought Tin Tin ... was ... good but definitely disappointing especially after a year's worth of Mount Washington high hype.

On the other hand, Spielberg won't be directing the second Tin Tin film (proposed trilogy). That job will belong to Peter Jackson (The filmmaker best known for The Lord of the Rings trilogy).

@mismi,
That may be what gave me my first clue about sex. Well, either that or the book, The Virginian by Owen Wister, written in something like 1913. Not a bad start in either case, I think now.

@ehBeth,
That's a great scene. The one that got my jolly button was the scene of Adrian Dunbar's character with the (was it an ox?) across the moor..

@Ceili,
I haven't seen that one, but Sayles is a favorite of mine.
Thinking of Return of the Secaucus 7, the progenitor, to me, of The Big Chill.

Now I have to see The Secret of Roan Inish.

Ok, then there was The Crying Game. Favorite might not be my first adjective, but I basically liked it. Will have to nose around at some reviews to remember my reactions.

@ossobuco,
I just love the movie. Of course the tension between John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara as they come to understand one another is delicious.

@dlowan,
OK OK OK < DONT HAVE A COW!!!.

Well we streamed "The wind That Shakes the Barley". It was good but it had me totally depressed after it ended. JEEEZus it was a sad retelling of the exploits near the time of the establishment of the Irish Republic. (Itd be like a movie about the US Revolution that only goes up to the capture of Philadelphia and the Battle of Brandywine)
