Party time.....yes, no, maybe?

Reply Tue 3 Feb, 2004 06:53 pm
I am having a champagne brunch and have sent out invites. I have
received a variety of responses...yes, no and maybe. Since when was
maybe alright? Doesn't simple courtesy mean that you give the hostess a rough idea of the numbers?

I hate it when people tell you that they might come. And according to Murphy's law, you will expect them not to come and then they'll come barreling in with twenty of their friends.

Call the people up who said "maybe" and tell them "maybe" you won't have the champagne brunch after all.

Shepaints--

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. People who start with "maybe" and then reluctantly commit can find something more fun to do at the last moment, leaving you holding the bubbly.

Good luck.

How do you feel about getting the guests to do clean up or cooking.....or am I just pushing things too far?

This is champagne brunch is going to be a blast with or without the mebbees!!!

If someone offers to help, wonderful. Assigning chores to the unwilling isn't terribly hospitable.

Just keep the champagne flowing...ask them to talk with you in the kitchen, while you clean up or cook. Hand someone a spoon and ask them to please stir. Ask someone else if they would mind bringing you more dirty dishes...before you know it, you should have at least a few helpers.
