My softener has recently developed an intermittent err 01 when it goes through its recharge cycle. I can manually cycle it with no problem, and it appears to be using the brine tank properly. Is this something I can repair myself (I'm an avid DIYer) or am I going to need to call out a tech? I believe the unit to be about 15 years old. I'm the second owner and have been here for 7 years without issue.
@Houndin,
You will need a tech. err 01 most likely is the panel.
@Houndin,
Houdin,
The position (micro) switch is the issue. Replace this and your problem will be solved. Check also the condition of the Cam & Gear on which this switch rides. If the cam & gear is pitted or blistered, you will get false signals from the switch which results in Error codes. Make sure the wire harness makes a good connection to the position switch as well. Remove any oxidation which may be present at the connection points.
This is a simple fix.
@DIDS007,
I have a 15 year old 3000R30. It has 1 micro switch (DC motor). In the manual (error 1 panel) (error 3 or error 4 micro). Been Ecowater dealer since 1977.
@ct water,
I have a 19 year old 3000 R30, started noticing water getting hard. Checked out unit and I have Err 01 on the display. I unplugged it and then plugged it back in. The Err 01 disappeared and it start trying to recharge. I could here a sort of grinding sound and eventually the Err 01 reappeared on the display. Any ideas what my problem could be and can I fix it myself (also avid DIYer)?
