ok, let's see. I guessed the letter Q because it must have a U. X is the only letter that is not pronounced with the exception of X-ray.

The letter X. Then I give up. And please, someone explain the answer. Crying or Very sad

Frankly, my friend. It was sorta difficult to understand the riddle itself.

There's a reason the words used in the riddle were chosen even though they make little sense.

"To quit and just add error" -- looks to me like a scrabble construct.

Under the "t" in "quit" and in "just" -- the word "error" can be added to get "terror!" Then you have that "leaves fear on the loose."

"Coax" and "lazy" both use valuable letters in interesting ways -- but...

Hmmm. Z is pronounced like X sometimes as in Xanadu--Xavier--

One more stab at it: answer: The most valuable letters in the game of scrabble.

Equus your reasoning is perfectly sound but it's not the one I'm looking for.

You only have to look at the riddle posed by sweetypete to see how irritating riddles can be, in that one I came up with an answer that fit every criteria but it's not the one that the riddle poser wants.

With my blood pressure I don't know what I'm doing here.

Wow! Kev. I can see what you mean about SweetyPete. Craven said that the riddle he was asking about the buzzard had been posted before. Craven is really good at this stuff.

All the letters of the alphabet are used -- so I guess it could be "the alphabet."

But why would you need "What am I?" for that?

Just thinking out loud to see if my ruminations lights a bulb over someone else's head!

Frank, "what am I" is simply asking for the answer to the riddle, it plays no part whatsoever to the riddle itself.

Actually kev, the answer doesn't work without "what am i" added on the end. See for yourself.

If the answer is "all the letters of the alphabet" and you use all those letters to play Scrabble, that's sorta disappointing. I know there's a mnemonic devise for using all the letters in typing skills, but I can't remember it. (so much for mnemonic devices)

That's not the expected answer, but it's about as close as you can get without nailing it.
It's a pretty lame riddle though, seeing as the "clues" aren't coherent or intelligible, so it might be a bit disappointing anyway.

But you still haven't gotten it. Wink
