@TPA,
What's erroneous? That he drove drunk and killed someone? Or the fact it wasn't his first time?

@Wildhourses,
He’s probably Thom’s friend. Thom has a battle on his hands and you can’t blame people whom might be close to him to come to his defense. I'm done with this thread.

@BeachBoy,
Thom was drunk off his ass that night! Anyone who thinks otherwise is in denial.

Yes it is a strong word and I don't hate the man, I don't like what he's done. I have read most of this thread and those that know him are correct, he leaves the bar quite a few times and always gets in his car and drives.

Its still sad he has ruined his life over drinking and driving.
If his lawyer is of sufficient skill n talent, then it may be OK.
Don 't give up hope.

@BeachBoy,
Quote:
Thom had his first DUI just a year ago, this is his second now.

His traffic court record shows a previous Red Light Violation last year, but not a DUI.
Was the first DUI plea bargained down? Did it occur in a different county? Are you sure he had a previous DUI?

If this is a second DUI, it likely will influence the outcome of the present case.

I hope that people r being pleasant to Tom.
Over the years, what he (allegedly) did to Barry,
the New York City Police and the New York State Police have BOTH done to me,
in the full light of day. (rear-end collisions)

Fortunately for me (and them) I was driving a car each time that it happened,
not a bike.

@firefly,
I've never heard of a second DUI until now, although I don't know him that well either.

@EqualityFLSTPete,
I don't think we should assume there was a previous DUI charge, unless someone knows that for a fact.

Swift is in enough trouble, he doesn't need people spreading rumors about him, if that previous DUI arrest is only a rumor.

I can believe he was a habitual heavy drinker, who might have routinely driven while impaired, because that seems to be the case with most people who wind up facing a DUI manslaughter charge--eventually, their luck runs out.

Is that another opinion that you just pull out of thin air?

In any case anyone could have had an accident with a cyclist after dark assuming that cyclist does not have his bike and himself lit up.

There so far no information available that would indicate that only a heavy drinker would had likely hit this cyclist on that night instead of almost any person driving a car at that time and place.

Strange that no information on the cyclist conditions or his bike before the accident had been released.

Such as was the cyclist himself under the influence of drugs and or alcohol and did his bike had lights on or not.
