Yes but he is likely carrying his liver around in a basket ............as all those chemistries are not good for you.

interesting to this thread i got stopped tonight for the first time ever for suspicion of drunk driving....i had been drinking but passed. i should have been about .035.

mostly i was annoyed. i have driven many times above .15 (youth mostly) with zero problems so maybe i am losing the ability to drive drunk with age. i will file this information away in my brain for further reference.

@hawkeye10,
If you been short on sleep that could had given the same kind of indications as drunk driving.

As I said before, on this thread, lack of sleep had degraded my driving far more then a few drinks have ever done even in my far off young.

Of course driving impair for any other reason then alcohol or drugs is not a crime as simple blood tests will not show it so what the hell.

So now you are endorsing driving in other impaired states? As long as the cops don't catch you, it's fine to drive while impaired by things other than alcohol or drugs? You really do think like a sociopath.

If Hawkeye was stopped it was because his driving skills appeared negligent or impaired to the police. He probably should not have been driving in the state he was in. The fact he wasn't legally drunk, so he wasn't arrested, is beside the point. Impaired drivers--regardless of the cause of the impairment--cause accidents.

Age is a factor, and, particularly when you are tired, even a small amount of alcohol might impair your driving skills more than it used to. That is something for you to remember before you get behind the wheel.

You shouldn't be annoyed. The cop was right to stop you if he/she saw something wrong with your driving. You might have been feeling ill or in need of medical attention--and the police think about those things too.

Age is a factor

some online bac calculators ask for age as if it matters....maybe I have learned something new today.

Furthermore, changes in body metabolism can make an elderly person more susceptible to the effects of alcohol. Frequently, seniors consuming the same amount of alcohol as they did in their youth leads to a greater level of impairment

http://www.alcoholmd.com/alcohol_gender_age.htm

i need words like "may" and "frequently" fleshed out as those driving an agenda tend to use these kinds of words wildly inappropriately, but perhaps there is some truth here.

I think that the scoialty is so hung up with the 'sin' of drinking and driving to the point that the set point of BAC for so call drunk driving had now been set so low that a whole lot of other things that can cause driving skills to be degraded to the same degree is common.

Talking on a cell phone, talking to a passanger, being a little short of sleep, being emotional upset for any reason, a bad case of the flu and so on and so on.

We all drive when we are not in perfect shape to do so and yet the only time it is a crime is if it involved alcohol or drugs.

No, distracted driving is now illegal, and negligent or reckless driving is also illegal.

No, "we" don't "all drive" when our physical or mental/emotional condition compromises our driving skills. Responsible people promote, and practice, responsible driving. You obviously do not fall into that category.

It nice to know as a straight male that there are some form of a closet to come out of. Drunk

Silly little gay guy however being for more senseable laws concerning drunk driving does not mean that person is a drunk driver or a drunk of any kind for that matter.

Just as my not thinking that anti gay sex laws is not right or constitutional mean that I am gay.

@BillRM,
You do realise certain cough medicines contain alcohol. You do realise what reckless driving is, I mean a bad flu, means you are in bed, can't move, let alone drive, why would you drive? That's reckless.

Your point is pointless. And, silly.

That's even funnier.

That's all you've got? Using a gay card? Seriously?

You could have short man syndrome and you know what that means in the mens department Wink Were you ridiculed at school? Seems that way, to act childish because at the end of the day, you are conversing (Adam) with another male... What ever his sex preference is, is his. Bit like Firefly when you accuse her of being a lesbian.. pfttt. That's all you've got? LOLS LOLS

Sorry Bill but you rub me up the wrong way when you talk crap.

@BillRM,
Ya I haven't heard any law that says people who eat and drink liquids other than alcohol are exempt either. Especially many people in the highway during the morning hours, I have started to notice people in the highway eating or sipping some drink for breakfast while driving like assholes.
