(NECN: John Moroney, Boston) - A jury decided a Massachusetts man was guilty on all seven counts against him; four of those counts were terror-related, including conspiracy to provide support to terrorism.
The defense of Tarek Mehanna, 24, argued his actions were protected by the First Amendment. Mehanna could face life behind bars; he will face sentencing in April.
Mehanna was also convicted of lying to federal authorities during the investigation.
The jury sat listening to testimony for 31 days in what became a very complicated trial. Prosecutors said that Mehanna and two of his friends traveled to Yemen to receive training at a terrorism camp with the intention of eventually traveling to Iraq to kill U.S. troops stationed there.
