@Sturgis,
LAUGH Laughing

You really do have me hooked on butternut squash - I roast it, put it in soups and stews ... loads of applications, truly yummy!

Snowflakes - my mother used to point to them through the windows and show me how different every one was - said no two were ever quite the same - we even drew them - lace patterns froze onto lachrymose panes.

@Sturgis,
ACTUALLY

We have one or two (10 minutes to the beach) that love to sit with the ducks by the pond.

Do you know I still eat duck even though I see all those little sweethearts swimming around?

Now I feel bad Sad

The weather changes are just crazy all around the World at present.

@vonny,
GOOSE

I recall someone saying the duck was a goose after we had dinner one night. Then again he may have said the goose was a duck- I was about 5 at the time. Never developed a strong interest in duck or goose or rotisseried moose (although a tasty chocolate mousse is fine with me).
Have a chicken in the fridge, no turkey, no cows. Part of a pig is in there as well.

For tonight though it's the balance of the Hormel Chili with a green pepper diced up and tossed in.

CELEBRATION

Is 26 February National Chilli Day in America or is that just an ugly rumour Laughing I had to Google Hormel Chili - sounds tasty - found that piece of information on there ... interesting!

@vonny,
REAL

There is an actual day for celebrating chili (not to be confused with national chili-dog day, which is a whole 'nother fooding)

Good thing about canned chili is you can get 100% vegetarian or with meat and different spice and heat levels. Can be doctored up as well with various items and served over different things or just on its own.

@Sturgis,
SLOW COOKING

My slow cooker has been used lots this winter - chilli is a top favourite, vegetarian and with meat and meat substitute; curry too - so many different kinds and so delicious. I'm getting more used to moving around the kitchen - great - and buying more kitchen gadgets Laughing Latest one is a digital soup maker - great fun Laughing

CHILLI

I have no idea what you lot are thinking. How can you taste your food, if you add chilli to it, you just can't, you can't I tell you, might as well put it over salad Wink

@FOUND SOUL,
VEGETARIAN CHILLI

Chilli wouldn't be chilli without a little chilli added to it - would it? I'm talking about vegetarian chilli with

2 tbsp oil

1 large onion, chopped

1-2 cloves garlic, crushed

1-2 tsp chilli powder **

1 tsp cumin seeds

1 red and 1 green pepper, stalk and seeds removed, and chopped

2 carrots, peeled and chopped

2 x 400g/14oz cans chopped tomatoes

1 heaped tbsp tomato purée

300ml/½ pint vegetable stock

100g/4oz frozen peas

175g/6oz mushrooms, wiped and quartered

1 courgette, chopped

salt and freshly ground black pepper

1 can kidney beans, drained

Tastes rather nice! Laughing

@vonny,
DANG, Just saw this.

I can't stand chilli Smile Though the other half "has" to put it on everything.

I often wonder how the heck anyone gets to taste the food?

@FOUND SOUL,
CHILLI

Not on anything - it's a dish in itself. But chilli sauce - which is what I think you mean - not so sure. I occasionally like it added at at the prep stage, but not too much, and not too often.

How are the wedding plans going?
