Video Game Controversy revisited

Okay, I got a good one. This has been done elsewhere and maybe even here, but I'm bringing it up again.

Some people believe that video games can warp peoples minds to the point where they could commit a Columbine-level tragedy. I personally don't buy into that. Yes video games can desensitize people to violence, but so can movies and TV shows, and even books. And yes, they can POSSIBLY warp the minds of the less-than-mentally-fit, but some people out there think that they can warp ANYONE'S mind, regardless of mental fitness.

I'd like to know my fellow A2K-goers' opinions on the matter.

@RexDraconis111,
Ofcourse games have a certain affect on people's mind's.
But they only allow it to affect them so far.
After all it still just a game.
I think it depends on the individual.

@JonathanHaver,
Exactly.

I'll admit that I've played a few gangland style games, but that doesn't mean I want to emulate them. I know that if I tried any of what I could do in those games, I'd end up dead or in jail real fast.

Hahaha , that reminds me of when i played GTA: San Andreas for too long.
The moment i stepped in a real car , i visualized the GTA way of driving. Laughing
Crashing against pole after pole , speeding away as cops follow.

But anyway , people may get fantasies from games to do certain crimes.
But i don't think a game should be pointed as the fault of crimes being done.

Right. I just wish more people (and I do know that there probably aren't as many nay-sayers as I think) could grasp this.

@RexDraconis111,
If you look at a killer's life and list all the things he does, then you could blame his actions on anything you like. But people find it easier to worry that he played video games than ate too much pizza.

@rosborne979,
True, but as far as I'm concerned, video games aren't the main culprit.
