I'm uninsured as you know. I've been getting my diabetic supplies from Liberty Medical on the cheap. Their test strips aren't worth a **** and it sometimes takes me 4 or 5 strips to get a reading. This ends up to mean not so cheap after all. Any recommendations on resources for on the cheap (er) test supplies that actually work?

@blueveinedthrobber,
Try to find a discount price on Freestyle strips. If the online and date expired price is right, that would be the way to go. The Freestyle meter is top of the line, and now retails for about $14.00 (cuz they know you'll buy lots of strips at $1.00 +). I know someone who has been doing this for years without a problem.

By the way, if you find the source, be aware that there are Freestyle and Freestyle meters and strips. They do not interchange. Make the strips match the meter, and go for the "Light". It is the newer technology and doesn't require coding.

The alternative is to be 65 years old and on Medicare A&B. There is a major savings even without Medigap insurance. In fact, I don't think you can find a policy that covers the strips, anyway.
