@jcboy,

I recently attended an evening of Purim and other early Jewish music from Renaissance Italy presented by Ensemble Lucidarium

http://www.torontoconsort.org/season/schedule.html

Quote:
Ensemble Lucidarium is the world’s leading ensemble bringing early Jewish music to vibrant life. This award-winning program is a celebration of the musical and poetic legacy of the Jewish communities of Renaissance Italy. A vast, entertaining and cohesive repertoire, with material in Italian, Hebrew and Yiddish, the centrepiece of the evening is a set of early Italian Purim songs. Don’t miss the chance to hear this rarely heard music, full of pithy humour, ribaldry and heartache.

check this out ... and see them if they ever are near you

(this clip is most interesting if not as beautiful as the first)

@ehBeth,
This year we got a new tree and placed it in the den, decorated with white, silver, gold and crystal ornaments.

Hope all of you enjoy a very lovely Christmas, jcboy. Your tree is elegant and beautiful. Great job!

As my little gift to Antonio, I'm sharing my Panda Cam with him--I am a big Panda fan. I've really enjoyed watching the little cub grow and interact with her mother the past few months. She's now beginning to really maneuver around their den on her own and to interact with mama more actively, and to play with bamboo, although I don't think she's eating it yet.
They are a delight to watch, and you never know what they might be doing. I hope Antonio will enjoy watching them too.

And, since the one thing you're not likely to have is a White Christmas, I'm sending a little snow your way...

@firefly,
Thank you! Smile Tonight Antonio watched the digitally premastered version of “A Christmas Carol” from 1951, he didn’t get up and walk away from the movie for a second. He loved it. Every now and then I would glance over at him as he watched the movie, It was just an instant of time, but once this truth is fully grasped, it lasts forever.

I never wanted a real Christmas but I was out voted this year so we picked up a nice tree and decorated it. Auntie Isabel and Grandma will be coming out this Sunday and spending Christmas with us.

Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah!

@jcboy,
That's one of the prettiest Christmas trees I've ever seen. It's really lovely.

Will you also be making Hanukkah latkes for everyone to enjoy? Wink

I hope the entire family will enjoy a wonderful Christmas and a very happy and healthy New Year.

@firefly,
Yesterday we were in Westwood and had some great latkes, they have a very large Jewish community there. This afternoon my sister and mother in law fly into town and tomorrow I’m going to make some blintz for lunch.

Who ever thought Puerto Ricans would like Jewish foods. Cool

One of the most creative compromises can be found in the home of Michael Patchen of Greenwich, Conn.: a seven-foot-tall “Menorah Tree,” with nine oversize candelabrum stems, each vined with evergreen foliage and decorated with ornaments.

I’m not one of those people that wait until the last minute to do their Christmas shopping. Mine was done last weekend.

Although, I am one to wait to wrap the gifts. I’m not very good at giftwrapping. I’ll finish them this afternoon.

Antonio is getting a new Sony Play Station 4, he has a PS3 but you can’t use it for new games. All new games only work on the PS4.

So on this Christmas Eve we’re going out to dinner then come home and have a quiet evening. Probably watch Home Alone again, Antonio’s favorite. I’ve already seen it five times this month! Cool

@jcboy,
Am Jewish but we always celebrated Christmas. Why not? What the hell does a fat elf have to do with a religion anyway? Smile

@HesDeltanCaptain,
Members may have mentioned this before to you....but I'm not sure you are aware of timestamps on threads. You seem to be unaware that you're posting all over the forum is on old threads? Most of them are inactive and often won't get you a response. Many times the Op has long since departed and will unlikely ever read it. It may be a useful thing to be aware of should you be expecting a reply.
