@Lustig Andrei,
That date was verified on IMDb: 29 July 1890, Auvers-sur-Oise, France (suicide)
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0994883/

But I believe that according to a new biography of the artist, the writer if I heard correctly may have been shot by someone else and ultimately murdered rather then commit suicide.

@tsarstepan,
You heard correctly, but according to the witnesses van Gogh lived some time after the shot ( up to an hour?) and verified himself that he had shot himself.

@saab,
One theory was that he was shot by a minor but claimed it was self inflicted in order to protect the boy.

...and none of that alters the date of demise.

@vpirdamon,
The death of Vincent van Gogh, the Dutch post-Impressionist painter, occurred in the early morning of 29 July 1890, in his room at the Auberge Ravoux in the village of Auvers-sur-Oise in northern France.
