Hasn't Halloween joined Columbus Day in the holiday trash pile? We dont like Columbus anymore, he is one of those asshole dead white men, and spooks and candy are no longer fitting for kids now that they are on a fun restricted parenting program .

OH, Got Ya...you are speaking of adults. I went into the ONE costume store in town and over half of them were for adults......a huge portion of the ones for women nice and slutty. I must not hang with the right crowd, I have not been to a Halloween costume party in years.

@hawkeye10,
it positively brings out the inner slut....making it my favorite holiday Laughing It's a money making holiday for me.....second only to christmas season... when one must get drunk and act like an asshole to honor the birth of Jesus.

@hawkeye10,
Here in Hilo, HI Halloween is seemingly a more important holiday than Xmas or NYE. People really come out and parte-e-e-e-e. Trick or treating, not so much 'cause it's really not seen as just a kids' holiday. But public drunkenness -- puh-lenty!

I once worked with a young woman who claimed to be a Wican. She was very upset that nobody observed Halloween with the reverence that the advent of the new year deserves. It is, after all, Samhain, the Celtic New Year's.

@Lustig Andrei,
Oh yeah, and before I forget, announcement in today's local paper that this year Nov. 1 will be a big formal celebration of Dia de los Muertos, the Meso-American Day of the Dead. Commemorative ceremonies in one of the parks, party at the local 'Cultural center' and so on.

It seems that I missed this trend, because I was wondering WTF was going on with decals of women in slut outfits all over the one Halloween costume store in town....I asked my wife "would you bring a kid in here?" They have kid costumes, but not a lot, I guess of your kids does trick or treating that you go to Walmart. IDK for sure how I missed this, but military culture tends to be a bit conservative, I think being a drunken slut is frowned upon after Tailhook, and now that in the military having sex with a drunk woman will earn you a rape charge.

@hawkeye10,
I spent 15 months in a house band in Fayetteville NC in the midst of the Viet Nam "conflict" and saw more drinking and slut banging than the other 40+ years of my career combined, so it wasn't always conservative Laughing
