There was this Mini Series that aired on ABC? back in the late 90's early 2000's that was all about this fantasy world trying to switch over into modern time (i think this was the plot, it's been a while) and it was all happening in New York... I know its not much to go on but I'm trying to find it again so I can watch the whole thing.
I remember only the first part happening and the second never making it to air (or I was just busy and missed the second portion)

You should take a gander at another TV with a similar name Seed.

Avoid the bland American remake, "Kingdom Hospital" (2004) TV series. The original which was directed by the very odd Lars Von Trier is pretty scary stuff.
