If that was the case, why'd you ask the question in the first place?

I am aware of that. There's a job assessment program I can register for through my local employment center that teaches people how to use these programs. I have working copies of these programs- now I am going to use this assessment program to teach myself these programs.

OK...here in your own words...the tense you use indicates that you haven't as of yet done this. One has to draw the conclusion that you lie like a rug!

Furthermore, Quark...and Photoshop are far too complicated to learn in a short period of time. You haven't demonstrated so far that you have a reasonable ability to read and/or comprehend what you read.

@JGoldman10,
Though I am not so expert on that but I have seen many experts always prefer Illustrator.

@JGoldman10,
Sigh..... You do not need any computer programs to make comics. It falls under sequential art, and story-boarding. You start by

1. writing the story, recording it with your voice,
2. then illustrating out as you would image it.
3. Finally making the layout.

The images come first and then the words, etc etc. Practice with a composition book, or any tablet with a painting program.

.......................................................
Photoshop ( at least 2016 cc which I am using ), has the most memory management. Not the greatest. The least would be CS4 on a OSX machine, to even PS6 on Windows 98 but again that is going too far back. You can get CS2 for free on adobe site if they still have it ( as it was the longest running copy ).
Photoshop = memory management and is an all in one tool.

Flash , you can animate things, you can also work using vectors. Think of using it trace over your crude pencil drawings CS5 = last 32-bit version CS6 = last 64-bit before the animate nonsense. Again even earlier MX you could use. Again it is for animating SWF.

illustrator is a poster vector program. Nothing more. Yes you can use it to make pixel perfect edges but nobody ( I mean nobody ) uses it for comics stand alone. It is a joke compared to photoshop. Yes you can master but again for posters.

About QuarkXpress and Indesign. Indesign is the better program when used with matching Adobe programs. CS4 works best with CS4 products etc. You could also make interactive PDF ( again depends on programs that will load them which is few ).

QuarkXpress and Indesign are for making book layouts and websites. Not for comics at all. It is for you when you want to put your book together and do it fast. Not making comics. The way it works is like this.

You make your comics ( traditional ) , you scan it in. You use illustrator to make a vector poster, or photoshop, Autcad Sketch to color it, or even add text to it that would make it up to par. In fact you have various standards to keep up with as wit CeltX ( a writing assistant tool ).

............

Point being you do not need any computer program to make comic book pages, at all. You could invest in a drawing book and call that your comic project. To start small get a composition book, or use printing paper.
