@Lustig Andrei,
gnarly, dude...
will the students need to sign a waiver?
@Region Philbis,
only if they can't get enough students on board...
@Lustig Andrei,
We had bowling, golfing, even ballroom dancing for a physed sport. I don't see a problem with it.
@Lustig Andrei,
That sounds quite cool (coming from someone who can't swim and is deathly afraid of water that goes over his head).
@tsarstepan,
Would a shark bite count as college credit for the student victim?

You and me both, tsar. But they're awesome to watch.
@Lustig Andrei,
my high school was on the river, and I took canoeing as an elective part of phys ed.
I don't see a problem with it. until someone loses an arm...
You cant do this in America anymore...the courts (or the insurance companies) will kill this idea off in short order, by way of liability law.....another of the areas where America is in the ditch...waiting for either reform or revolution to put things to rights.

Coincidentally, so did I.
@Ticomaya,
equally coincidentally, and infinitely more interestingly, so did Squinney.
has anyone seen her lately, I miss her...
Sounds like a good idea to me, Andy. Porque no?
@Ticomaya,
I know my school had a skiing club - couldn't have that as physed because we were not close enough to the mountains, but I could see some schools having this as an option as well.

Porque no, indeed. I have no objections.
Considering that most schools are cutting back on all phys-ed programs, as well as band, chorus, art, music, track, cross-county, drama club and chess, I think it's great.
The kid provides his/her own board and wet-suit, the ocean provides the conditions. All the coach needs is a whistle and some sunscreen.
Surfing is a hell of lot safer than football.
