Guidance for an Aspiring Environmental Journalist?

I'm very confused about my future right now. I know that I want to write and help animals at the same time, so I'm considering making a career out of environmental journalism. To do so, what should I choose as my college major? English? Journalism? Biology? Conservation? Environmental Science? I am against dissection and animal experimentation, so I need to select a major that will allow me to opt out of all that. Also, where is the best place for me to study? I'm Indian, but I'd like to work abroad (preferably in the United States, but any developed nation would work) so in which country should I study for the greatest job prospects?

@juliaj93,
If you wanna be a journalist in the UK you will be earning £10k a year in London which is **** all. I mean breadline. Everyone wants to do your job so consider it carefully. Environmentalism is a contradiction, anyone who gets a half decent job will be with the worst offenders.
