PLEASE help me get rid of Offeroptimizer spyware!

I got the exact same message when installing my Rio MP3 Player. I went to the Rio manual and sure enough there was a warning about this message. They claim they've tested the Rio with Win XP and that I should go ahead and install the software without paying any attention to the message. So I did and so far so good.

I can't believe you're getting it when installing Explorer though!

I tried to continue, but after a while, it would just say some components couldn't be installed, and then it just stops.

Nevermind, fixed it myself.

How?! I STILL can't get rid of it!!!!

Installing it somewhere other than your desktop is recommended ... a new folder in "My Documents" or even as a new folder on your C drive. OK ... that's a start. Now, if you did not place HijackThis directly on your C drive in its own folder, do so. Create another folder ... in "Mu Documents" is prolly best, and call it something like "HiJack This Logs". The next time you run HJT, direct it to save the log to that folder, and remember to assign a distinctive name to each logfile saved ... don't simply save it as ".txt" , ".log", or whatever the default option is. You want to be able to refer to and compare successive logs, not overwrite the existing log.

For those who would like help with examining HijackThis log files, start a new topic in the Computers forum (do not post on the end of someone else's as that can be confusing). The subject line for your topic should be as descriptive as possible (preferably mentioning particular files or websites involved with the problem), & logs should always be accompanied by plain English as to what problems you are actually experiencing. Please also make sure to describe what, if any, steps you've already taken to try to solve it on your own.

Before asking for help on these boards, please make sure you've taken the following steps:

- Run the latest version of CWShredder
- Install, update then run both Spybot S&D & Ad-Aware
- Update your virus definition files, then run a virus scan of your system. (If you don't have a virus scanner installed, at the least run the latest version of Stinger, which will remove some common baddies.)

Ensuring that all these instructions are followed makes things easier for everyone, & will mean that you're more likely to receive help when you need it. Thanks!

I hate XLime Offeroptimizer
Just yesterday I started noticing these popups that the google toolbar didn't block, I looked at the popups only to see that the source is offeroptimizer. After a little research I found many other people have the same problem. So I downloaded Highjackthis and ran the program and saved my log file, I would really appreciate it if someone could take a look at my log file and maybe help me figure out how to get rid of xlime and such, thanks ahead of time.
