There is no cowering involved with that; either u go or u don't; no need for emotion.
I see some merit in government taking an interest in that issue,
in that IT is called upon (not always successfully) to rescue
citizens who r so stupid as to hike into (or too near) Moslem held Iran.

During the Third World War, it was very reasonable to keep our
citizens out of some enemy held areas (like Cuba).

I don 't see much problem with that.
