@Roberta,
Thanks, ((( Roberta ))). The same to you. May your health and hearth improve in the coming year.
Well... I made my initial goals in 2011! I completed a dietary transformation and established some daily routines that should allow me to maintain my successes. I've started getting out of the house more and I've tip-toed into a new church environment. Progressive Christianity is still a reach for me but the people seem sincere and the culture is welcoming. They're getting used to me bashing Paul as the Great Usurper. Mostly it's just about being in community with people who care.
My work has picked up a bit and our health insurance situation has stabilized. It's unbelievably expensive but it is what it is. My medical file officially states that I had a stroke. I'm no longer insurable outside of the high risk pool unless I remain in a group plan. I've been able to do that so far. The whole thing is ridiculous. I'm probably healthier than most people with private coverage but I don't get to write the rules.
2012 should be interesting. I'm pouring over the course listings for the winter term at a couple different places. I'm also looking at some online programs. I plan on going full speed ahead on my exercise plan. My knees and back are improving to the point where I'm dreaming about being able to putter in my gardens again. I've had to leave much of that to Mr B the past few years.
I always have forced bulbs and flowering plants in the house after the Christmas decorations come down. It's what gets me through the dark, cold winter months. I'll start those in a couple weeks. I have some grow lights in the basement. I may bring them upstairs so I can see my young plants throughout the day.
Santa brought me a yogurt maker for Christmas. I look forward to trying my hand at making yogurt. I cancelled my weekly CSA delivery when I wasn't eating fruit. I think I'll start that back up again. I'm also going to try to find grass fed meats. They're expensive, but I'm not buying any junk food so I think my grocery bill will stay about the same. Sometime in the next few months I'll start the campaign to eliminate the statin drug.
I enjoyed the feeling of participating in a timed 5K walk. I'll start looking for more of those once it starts to warm up. My goal for 2012 is to complete a 5K in under 45 minutes and to complete at least one 10K race. I'll never be a runner, but I like to walk long distances. My broken leg gives me almost no trouble now. It doesn't like the cold very much and it tires when I peddle too long on the peddler. Overall, it's much improved.
Here's to 2012, y'all. May you have a happy and healthy year ahead!
