Every Mensa member I've ever meet were unsociable geeks who thought they were brilliant because they could finish a puzzle. OSD is a classic example.
This group of self professed geniuses rarely do anything of purpose.

@thack45,
Yes but all those old guys didn't have internet or video games or computers, wiis, xbox, malls,ipods, laptops, movies, skating rinks, PS3s or board games to have fun . Those poor guys probably didn't have any other choice but to be bored. Its different. I have fun stuff to do so why would I wanna do something boring and unnecessary like 'Mensa' when I could be having fun here or at gameshed.com.

But, whatever. I agreed didn't I? I'll join Mensa. Anyone wanna join with me?! Very Happy

It makes it sound like a drug.

I can think of few organizations which sound sillier to me. It's based on "IQ" which is a scam all by itself. (By the way, i would qualify by "IQ" if i didn't find the idea so goddamned ridiculous.) I've heard a lot of wisdom from people who were not terribly articulate or well educated, and would not have done well on an IQ test. I've also heard and read an inconceivably enormous about of tripe from people who are mensa candidates.

Then, of course, there's the Woody Allen take about not wanting to be a member of any group who would have him.

@Rockhead,
I used the "Contact Us" device to change the case over a month ago. I got an automated response that gave me a ticket #. I waited a week and sent a follow up. I checked profiles for Roger, and it took me to my own profile. I know the name "Roger" isn't taken. I know the name isn't taken. Maybe it's just too hard to do, and they don't want to admit it.

Your right, but sice you could join if you change your mind I'll join with ya. If I can that is. I'm smart for my age,sure, but I don't think I'm smarter than a bunch of geeky adults. And I don't know my IQ.

Oh! And realllly pretty dog by the way! What's her name and how old is she? I have the cutest sweetest golden retriever named Sly. He's 2. Smile

@GracieGirl,
Mr. Bailey is a boy of the male persuasion, and he's older than you are. He's 14.

I've not checked up on this, but I always thought it was Groucho Marx.

Every Mensa member I have met has turned out to be a sad inadequate, who has spent most of the time telling me that they're in Mensa. That seems to be their sole achievement.

It was suggested to me on several occasions that I join. I graciously declined. Well, maybe not so graciously. Not my kinda thing.

@izzythepush,
I checked up on this online, and it is listed as a part of the text of a telegram Marx sent to the Friar's Club in Los Angeles announcing his resignation. I first heard from Wood Allen in the motion picture Annie Hall. I'm glad to know it was Groucho, i don't much like Allen.

@Setanta,
I feel exactly the same. I knew I could rely on you to do the research, I've been out buying school uniform for next term, or I would have done it myself.

I was relying on a conversation I'd had down the pub, which may be proof for certain posters, but not me. Again, I'm pleased it was Groucho, his lines still work today, and I love the fact that he never bothered with anything more sophisticated than a paint-on moustache. I've never really 'got' Allen.

@izzythepush,
The Girl picked up a great DVD the other day, which i have not watched yet. It's You Bet Your Life, a collection of Groucho's television shows from the 1950s. I have always remembered Groucho's line to the woman who had about 15 children. He asked how she had come to have so many children, and she replied that she really loved her husband. Groucho replied that he really loved his cigar, too, but he took out of his mouth every now and then.

@GracieGirl,
I've always believed that if you're smart it should be obvious without you having to advertise it ...by joining mensa for example.
