We had the "Bee Out Of The Barn" routine which was a gentle teasing play.

Pinch pointer finger & thumb together (the bee) and with the excited call "here comes the bee out of the barn" and lots of authentic sounding buzzes, the "bee" swoops about. After several low, buzzing passes, "BING" and the bee lands on whatever available spot needs a bee. Generally the bee comes out of the barn four or five times.

Now we play this with our dogs, One is mildly amused, the other is near frantic that the bee is going to get her.

Speaking of insects... R had a pet ant named Frankie. Whenever he went outside he could always find Frankie. He'd step out onto the patio... "Here's Frankie," he'd say. The ant would climb onto his fingers and they'd play a while before R would let him go.

I had a laugh Monday morning...

My girls are used to going to sleep on the cold nights w/ thermal undie-type pajamas on... I happen to keep the house extremely warm and my 5 year old (Noelle) just will not sleep with anything other than this heavy yellow blanket lately. When it was time for her to go to bed I told her should could just sleep in her power puff girls undies (panties) because if she put on the thermals, she's be waaaaay to hot.

Well, the next morning my 3 year old woke up first, and I told her to go wake up her sister. She went in the room, pulled back the covers and came running out of the room screaming "MOMMY!!!!! SHE DOESN'T HAVE ANY CLOTHES ON !!!!!!!!!!!!!"

It was very funny to me....

Funny to me, too!!!

Sozlet wears a layer of cotton pajamas and a layer of fuzzy fleece pajamas because she is very anti-blanket. I'll tuck her in, but in the morning she has ALWAYS kicked them off. :-?

Last night, sozlet wanted me to tell me a story about when I was a "young lady." So I told her how her papa and I met, and that he wrote me a poem to make him fall in love with him... and it worked! She was just enchanted, goggle-eyed, listening (first time I've told her that story), and then asked if she could see the poem. I said hmm, maybe later, and she started a whole "please please please pleeeeeease?!" thing, so I said fine.

It was in the office, and E.G. was there doing some stuff. So I went and got it for her, and then asked him if he wanted to read it to her. He said sure, and read it to her. She had the sweetest expression -- just huge eyes, looking from him to me. When he finished, she sighed and said, "That was a wonderful poem, Papa. Can you read it again?" He did, same reaction. Then they went off to do something, and he told me later that she said to him, "Papa, when you read that poem two times, it made me fall in love with you again." Very Happy

Well you've done it now, soz, tears are rolling down my cheeks. That is one of the most beautiful things about children--they understand true love (if they are from a truly loving family).
Thanks to you and the sozlet for making this a beautiful day.

Darling daughters, Onyx... and your brother looks sweet. (Yeah, I know, looks can be deceiving... but he LOOKS sweet!)

Sweet story, too, Soz, about the poem that started it all. What a treasure for your family.

this is a really nice feelgood thread! Stories about Sozlet are always fun.

Yes Onyx they are beautiful Very Happy

My youngest daughter went to Sunday school with the neighbouring children when she was 2. She came home one week and fixed himself with her little beady brown eyes and suddenly said ' Were you very young when you killed the giant daddy?'

stunned silence

.......OHHHH!!! sudden realisation .... they'd had the story of David and Goliath (no need to ask himself's name..)

In the mornings, I always get/give a good morning hug and a good morning kiss...this morning was no different in that respect. As always, the youngest onyxlet was up first, and gave me the goods immediately. Onyxlet the 1st woke up about 45 min later, and gave it to me. Here now comes Onyxlet the 2nd and whines that she did not get any hug and kisses...

I said, yes you did, you got it earlier. Then she said "it came off", and proceeded to hug & kiss me again. GAWD i luv dem!

"It came off"! Too cute.

Sozlet was signing (she goes back and forth between signing and English, mostly English) something like this:

[want][watch][video][dance][potty]

I was asking, a dancing potty? We have a video about a dancing potty? She got exasperated and said, "I want to watch the Wiggles' Dance Potty!" ("Dance Party", with an Aussie accent. Very Happy)
