I have a rain soft system approx 14 years old that has started to leak resin pelletts in the house water after a regeneration cycle. I have to clean the aerators on the faucets approx 2-3 times then system is ok till next regeneration cycle. The system has been maintained by rain soft but their charges are not worth the price of the unit anylonger. $125.00 to walk into the door and 30 minutes then $40.00 for every additional 30 minutes plus parts. Do you have any idea as to the problem

@Al Mollet,
Questions

Chlorinated city water? If yes, is there a Carbon (GAC) filter ahead of the softener?

@Al Mollet,
OK. Chlorine can break down resin over the years and it can become small enough to pass through under pressure.
Has your water pressure gotten stronger or weaker?

Two things that should be checked:

Shut off tabs for the brine and drain - check and replace as needed.
If that does not fix the problem you will need to check the basket on the bottom of the riser pipe.
Cracks will allow resin to escape.

How much resin do you think has escaped so far?

@Al Mollet,
A higher flow rate to drain will allow resin to escape, but not into the house.

There is a flow restricting device inside the valve where the
drain line connects, it may be missing or installed incorrectly.

Is the top of the riser pipe sealing tight on the valve?
Who replaced the resin and why?
