Are atheists being more illogical than agnostics?

@Herald,
Well, Christmas is just a holiday that the Christians stole from the Pagans. That means Christians shouldn't celebrate it.

Christmas is Jesus's birthday, so if Pagans used to celebrate it, good for them..Smile

@farmerman,
Once around the Saturnalia bush and pop a cool one for me, farmer. I celebrate the fact of my grandkids winter break. Folks can keep right on giving the time off.

But drive carefully, OK? And watch out for Jimmy. No license yet.

Christmas is the annual commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ (34 B.C.). Can you give some examples of pagans celebrating Christmas before that date?

I didn't have in mind that atheists (and agnostics) do not have the right to celebrate Christmas. Everybody is free to celebrate whatever he likes. I was just asking 'What do the atheists celebrate on Christmas' - in particular, and what we are all 'Christians & Non-Christians' celebrating on Christmas - in the general case.
The atheists claim that universe is based on chaos and lack of intelligible pattern ... and by seeing what is going on on the planet right now this assumption is not entirely to be excluded.

Early Christians did not celebrate Jesus' birth. 4th Century Roman leaders co-opted the feast of the Saturnalia as a way of appeasing the masses and creating christian 'converts'.

Google "origins of christmas" or "Saturnalia".

This is something you could have investigated for yourself..

Herald believes that the putative Jesus was born in "34 B.C.?" Somehow i'm not really surprised.

@Setanta,
That's very funny! 34BC for the birth of christ.

What's more interesting is that BC/AD was established more then 500 years after the christ epoch. How they managed to count backwards beginning with 1BC must have been quite a feat in those days, since numbers were virtually unknown.
