Around 1:30 a.m., Wilkes County, N.C. homeowner James Brian Haynes alerted authorities to a man throwing rocks at his house
and attempting to break in. By the time police arrived the criminal had fled.
Three hours later, the criminal returned wielding a machete and forced his way inside the home. Haynes retrieved a gun and shot the criminal twice, killing him.
An investigation revealed that in 2005 the criminal had been charged with assault by strangulation before pleading to a misdemeanor.
No charges have been filed against Haynes. (The Winston-Salem Journal, Winston-Salem, N.C. July 13, 2011)
Every predatory event is a contest of power.
The victim NEEDS to have predominant power to control the emergency.
Its better to HAVE a gun and not need it
than it is to NEED a gun and NOT have it.
An armed society is a polite society. Manners are good when one may have to back up his acts with his life.
@OmSigDAVID,
Have a plan and train for the worst situation just in case it actually happens.
I feel sorry for victims who r unarmed.
