I MUST go hiking this spring

If anyone is interested in a day-hike up one of the lesser peaks in the MA/VT/NH area, please let me know. I'm thinking Mt Monadnok, Mt Greylock or Mt Lafayette (listed by elevation, Mt M being the shortest).

They'd all make for a tough day-hike from the greater Boston area. Staying at a hotel near the mountain the night before may make more sense than driving in and out around a hike.

Any interest?

I hiked a part of the Appalachian Trail in New Hampshire a couple of summers ago. Beautiful trail! I'd like to join you, littlek, but my next hike is going to be somewhere in the West.

Have fun.

I've been up Monadnock several times. Used to live in the area (Rindge, NH). It's a swell day trip. Monadnock's higher than Greylock, isn't it? Afraid I won't be able to join you though, K. Too many irons in the fire this Summer already.

Monadnok is shorter than greylock, but not by much. It may look taller because it is a stand-alone peak.

Thanks anyway guys!

I'll go if the timing is right. I'm guessing Quinn would go too. We'd just have to figger out a day to go. Wink

Cool! The photo-ops would abound, I'll help carry her gear. I'm thinking late spring. Maybe the end of May, on a weekend.

Well.. Depends on what the stuff is! lol I gotta fly down south and visit with the kid somewhere in that timeframe. She should be on her break between Spring and Summer semesters in May somewhere.

Ive done Greylock before so, thats no problem...havent done Monadnock though. Certainly neither compares to Mt Washington in October--after that Im lucky to ever want to hike again I suppose.

I think we could pull off mt monadnok in one day (drive, hike, drive). Mt greylock may need to involve an over-night. And, as you know, that's hard for me to pull off.
