"Anyway , no drug, not even alcohol, causes the fundamental ills of society. If we're looking for the source of our troubles, we shouldn't test people for drugs, we should test them for stupidity, ignorance, greed and love of power."

@Germlat,
I wonder what we might get, Germie, if nobody was stupid, ignorant, greedy and loved power.

I bet O'Rourke wouldn't have gone into that problem in his rush to insinuate he has none of those characteristics.

He is stupid on his own evidence. He whores his writing talents, such as they are. Ready cash probably.

@spendius,
We probably wouldn't be human Spendi...but it doesn't mean we shouldn't strive for being better than we are.

One of the mistakes many of us make is that we feel sorry for ourselves, or for others, thinking that life should be fair, or that someday it will be. It's not and it won't. When we make this mistake we tend to spend a lot of time wallowing and/or complaining about what's wrong with life. "It's not fair," we complain, not realizing that, perhaps, it was never intended to be.”

We can always choose how we react to things that occur in our lives. We can be better, or we can be bitter. Try to be better!
