But none, not one, no one IMO can top Gene Tierney in Leave Her to Heaven. I know I have seen this movie over 100 times and I will watch it 100 more.

Here is a clip of the movie where she commits her first murder.

Here is a picture from that scene.

I have seen that film also. She was evil within the conventions allowed in 1940's Hollywood. The villainesses in modern films, however, are allowed to be more graphic in their violence.

@wandeljw,
I definitely agree and I think that is why she seems so evil to me. Even without all the graphic violence her performance always gives me goosebumps.

Great call Wandel. So damaged yet so remorseless.

When I was a kid watching the old Flash Gordon serial, I had a crush on the daughter of Ming the Merciless.

@Setanta,
Can't say that I have. I'll check it out! Thanx!

Just watched a clip of Legend on youtube. That guy is a great actor. Anything I have seen him in I believe he's that part. LOL!

@Linkat,
Honestly, I didn't really find Kathy Bates believable in Misery. Grant she probably did the best she could with the material, but she was playing a caricature. I don't think she could have succeeded.

I agree these are excellent characters! I loved Marley and Me! Great movie! But I was actually looking for believable villains. Otherwise I would have posed several Jody Foster films as the solution to this question.
