I'm building a firewood shed. At the last moment, I've decided to add an extra
3 x 8 feet to its size. I don't want to dig any more holes for 4X4 supports. Is there any kind of metal support that I could attach a couple of 2x4's to that would hold up that small section of roofing (3/4 plywood and asphalt shingles)?

@bowwee,
You could run 2 angle braces from the two end frame uprights. At each end Bolt in two great angle brace beams from the lower end of the back upright to the upper end of the front upright, then close the A with beam that runs to the roof peak. This would essentilly turn the end frames into a large "truss". This would, however, present an open beam which could be covered with siding, or just left open (just have to remember not to bash your head or walk into these beams at night.

@farmerman,
Thanks for the advice. New to the building thing. I need some time to chew over your thoughts, and picture it in detail.
