Have you ever been caught telling a white lie? What was the consequence?
@PhoebeKate,
I can't remember. I think I tried to give myself a 'thumbs down'.
I never, ever lie. No, no really, i don't. If a woman asks me: "Do these jeans make my ass look fat?" I tell her, straight up: "No, your ass makes your ass look fat."
That's a lovely dress you're wearing Mrs. Cleaver.
I've told several beige ones, but never caught.....
@PhoebeKate,
PhoebeKate. Here is the definition of a white lie:
white lie - an unimportant lie (especially one told to be tactful or polite)
Yes, I have.
Funny - just last night I was going over some vocab words with my daughter. One was candid and was diplomatic. So I explained the differences of the two. And I used the example of some one that asked if you like their dress - and it was a really ugly dress.
She then said, well what do you say if some one were to ask you that - stating that you shouldn't lie, but you don't want to hurt their feelings.
My response - "your hair looks really nice or your shoes are beautiful" - which ever applies.

And then you hope that there are no follow-up questions on the opinion once again on the dress.
Not wanting to tell a white lie, I think this thread is a waste of my time. At least, the question, in my opinion, "Have you ever been caught telling a white lie?" In my opinion, the question sounds like part of the script in a 1950's sitcom. "Gee willikers - I never tell white lies. That would make me a liar."
