Need Help Identifying 3 Dominican Republic Statues

Hello,

Came across this site in my search for the origins of 3 statues I have, and thought I might as well ask.

Some background on them then. Back in the late '70s early '80s, my Father was in the Dominican Republic, he bought these 3 statues as a gift for family back in the USA. They were apparently bought from a street vendor/sculptor, who was black (There's a reason I mention this, read on).

He brought them back to the states, and they stayed in his Sisters possession for the next 30 years, recently, whilst spending some time with the family, I found them, and decided to research them a bit. My father reckons that they could well be figures or symbols that have been passed down through the ages, ever since the sculptors ancestors left Africa.

As for the statues, the "Bird" and the "Thinking Man" are made of a very soft stone, not sure what type. The "Head" seems to be made of quite a porous stone, possibly even coral.

Both the "Bird" and the "Thinking Man" seem quite familiar to me, but I honestly can't place where I've seen them, and the "Head", I've no idea.

If you've any other question, I'd be delighted to answer them. Here's hoping someone knows what these are!
