Hi! Thanks for your response.
The plate is some kind of metal..can't indentify it. Some say its gold plaed, some say its not!
It has 4 symbols stamped on the back and the number 4728.
It is not magnetic, bends somewhat easily and I cannot find anything on it no matter how far and wide I have searched.
Help!!!!

we assumed that it ws pottery because you didnt provide that key information at the head.

Is it a golden color? if it rings when you drop it, its brass, if not it could be gold plated. If its real heavy could it be gold?.
Your going to have to look up touch marks for metals, I only know pottery and porcelain.

These are probably Hallmarks. you will need to identify the marks.
Is it possible the last number in your series is an S rather than an 8 If so this could indicate the silver content.
