American men are beginning ro realize that it is ridiculous to buy good suits asn then spoil the effect by wearing an ordinary, mass produced shirt. Hence the growing popularity of HATHAWAY shirts, which are in a class by themselves.
what does"which are in a class by themselves" mean?
It means that Hathaway shirts are of such a high quality that no other shirts can be compared to them. Several brands of shirts might be seen as occupying a class of "good" shirts, or of "quality" shirts, or even of "high quality" shirts. By describing Hathaway shirts as "in a class by themselves," the author is saying, in effect, that Hathaway shirts are superior to all other shirts in any other class.
