@Linkat,
Hey that's him! Thanks for the link!

That's a little different than the account I read (but I can't remember now where that was), which said that he was in some sort of outdoor exhibition space and he learned how to talk from passersby.

@sozobe,
What about those cats you see on web virals who appear to be speaking English?

@sozobe,
Yes - the NE Aquarium has an outdoor exhibit. You do not have to buy tickets for the aquarium to view the outdoor seal exhibit. When I used to work closer to the aquarium (my first job), I'd go over some times in the summer and spring to get some ice cream and see the seals.

I remember Hoover fondly. He could have also picked up some words while being outside. My understanding from many articles, I've read about him is he picked up most of his words from the couple. He thought he was a person basically being raised by people.

@JGoldman10,
Well that dog didn't actually talked. A man carried him around and held him - I am assuming the man was a very good ventiloquist. But it was amazing how the dog would mouth the words. He had the dog trained well on how and when he opened his mouth. The kids were truly convinced he could speak.

@Linkat,
I'm talking about some cats I have seen that were meowing into a microphone - they sounded like they were talking. I saw some web virals with them.

Hey Soz,
If you are a fan of the old (Warner Brothers, I think) cartoons from the 60's, there was one classic about a singing frog who would only sing for the person who found him. Anyone who found him would try to get rich from the "famous singing frog", but when the curtains went up, all the frog would say was 'grrridup!' (my approximation of a frog croak).

Did you ever see that one?

@snood,
It's very familiar -- I had to look it up though. Is that the Leon Redbone frog too?
