What kind of animal would a cartoon parrot pirate captain keep as a pet?

Ok, I guess I won't have to share with you my idea of how the parrot pirate met his friend when he had to save Salty from being smashed and thrown into a boiling pot of New England Clam Chowder.

The King of the Clams has never gotten over it, and awaits the parrots making a mistake.
Then, he will strike.

I should have specified-I'm talking about a PET ANIMAL. I think either a seagull, crow or raven would work, or maybe even an owl.

A bird would not have another bird as a pet. Chai's idea is funnier.

In Darkwing Duck, Phineas Sharp:

kiwi birds are funny. (except Ionus)

swallows are boring, except in King Arthur sketches...
