If one does not know almost anything about something, this something might be everything ... probabilistically distributed quantum cyborg or even meta-biological being spreading His legs in 11 deminsions ... or whatever.
Why 'alien spiders' ... why not client-server architecture for example. The mind of God is the server of the universe, and we are more or less the clients. The server may be even in some non-physical state to provide the service (of supporting life) ... it is not obligatory to have some physical definitive shape ... let alone to be something known to us & from our world.
