@jcboy,
Nah... too old for that malarky. While there'll be thousands heading into town for the parade, fun, games and merriment. AKA a piss up.

Instead I went to the local cafe this morning and got a cold brew with green Irish foam cream. I am enjoying now as we speak.

@jcboy,
No green beer, no boiled dinners. Never go put on St Patty's, especially on a Friday or Saturday St Patty.

@bobsal u1553115,
Over here a few pubs have a special Guinness promotion but that's about it.

We don't do green beer or anything like that.

I will be a pea fritter from the chip shop this evening which is about as green as I get.

@izzythepush,
Having said that, it's more than we do for St George's Day, and he's supposed to be our patron Saint.

@izzythepush,
The Guinness and the pea fritter sound good, but green beer is always off the menu.

What would a St George celebration be like? St Patty's in the US is all about being obnoxious without the approbation that would accompany that behavior on, say. May 7th or June 23.

@bobsal u1553115,
The pea fritters at the chip shop I go to in West End are very good.

I was put off them for a bit by a really vile one from a now closed down chippy in Portswood.

All place names are Southampton regions.

@izzythepush,
I love St. Pattys Day, I have a black tee-shirt with clover all over it and a lovely pair of shamrock stockings. But there's a big nooooo to green beer, it's an outrage. I'll be tipping a glass of Jameson in the later part of the day.

@glitterbag,
I don't like whisky or whiskey either. My tipple is calvados.

@glitterbag,
I'm also not a fan of corned beef and cabbage. I like a good beef brisket but not the taste of corned beef.

@Region Philbis,
Now that I do like, a good pastrami sandwich. Corned beef always tasted salty to me.

Agreed but I rarely even have pastrami as I find it can be too salty as well...you really have to find a good place to get it and .if you do I agree a really good pastrami is awesome

@Linkat,
My Grandmother made the best Corned beef, but I couldn't get near the cabbage. Cabbage is better when it is raw. If you make it at home, the Corned Beef can be glorious.
