Do college athletic teams have student managers (e.g., freshman women's basketball manager)? What function is performed by such persons? I thought the paid Coach managed the team.

Good question. I wouldn't be surprise to see that some small colleges in the lesser accredited NCAA sports divisions might use this technique to save money by interning the position to a student.

If not, I would think it an excellent idea for colleges to save money and recruit new students into a new sports managing program.
