I would have preferred that Clary offer the link....but nevermind. I'm at a loss for words.

If you look at telegraph.co.uk you can find it, you have to register but it's free. The article can be found if you look for Judith Woods, the journalist who wrote the article.

That is a very compelling and emotional article Clary. I knew that you had lost your husband, but not the circumstances. My heart goes out to you, for your courage and for your loss.

Thank you colorbook. The TV programme that has been made is very sensitive, very balanced. Actually, the newspaper article is a bit strong - I only think with hindsight that the liver was wasted, but you never know, do you? Luckily it wasn't my decision to make.

Simon's case was unusual - apparently in 58 similar cases, the people had recovered and not attempted suicide again. I agreed to be in the prgramme and the article because I really want it to encourage people to donate organs. It's ludicrous that in England even if you carry a Donor's card, your relatives can refuse donation.

I agree with colorbook's response.

(I hope to see the [recorded] documentary in a couple of days, since we don't get that program here.)

Clary, you should start a thread about organ donation and the importance of it. Here in the U.S. I think organ donations are more commonplace. My brother died suddenly, a few years ago, and although he wanted his organs donated, his health was too deteriorated to make it happen.

My esteem for Clary is also unbounded. The photo of you and your son, Clary, is very rich. Two strong and thoughtful faces.

I have known some of Clary's situation from an early thread here on a2k.

Clary, in that photo, you remind me of my friend and physician, Ellen Mahoney - another strong and wise woman.

Probably, Eva 80% of all ducks in Britain are Mallards (Gus's duck) so you can imagine my surprise whe I found several Mandarins living in the wild in North west Lancashire.

Where the hell they came from I dont know but I did some serious birdwatching that day and they were nesting.

What a difference to our much less colourful birdlife the would make if they "took hold"
