The meaning of a sentence

"The first step in making love is for both people to feel sexually and emotionally attracted to each other. This may seem completely obvious, but it's amazing how many people deny thier lack of sexual attraction because they want the comfort, security, and companionship of a relationship."

I don't understand the meaning of the second sentence in this paragraph. I cannot figure out the logic.

Could anyone explain the second sentence? Thank you.

Some people want comfort, security and companionship so badly that they will go into a relationship, even when there is not that sexual attraction "spark" between the two people. The first sentence says that there should also be a sexual and emotional attraction for people who want to make love to each other.

Friends = comfort, security, companionship.
Lovers = strong sexual desire, emotional attraction, comfort, security, companionship
