This painting came from my great grand mother. She worked as a servant in a home in holland in the 1800's. When the economy fell, many of the servants were let go but were given the chance to take one item from the home. It has been in my family for years. Its a picture of what looks like a fishing boat flying the flag of the Netherlands. Its in GREAT shape and Im wondering who or how to get it appraised?
@JohnnyFisher,
Two suggestions.
1. Call your insurance agent (homeowner's or renter's insurance) and ask them to refer you to a fine art appraiser.
2. Contact several top art galleries in your city and ask them for referrals. They often use appraisers to help set their prices.
