Odd that you think they need to learn any lessons, Hawk.
Odd how? Looking at recent events in the Middle East I'd say it is clear that this class of dictators have mucked up the job.

@hawkeye10,
"this class of dictators" means who? The class of dictators installed and supported by none other than Uncle Sam?

And the "lesson" to be learned in all this that dictators should rule as brutally as they need to in order to keep them in the position that the US put them in?

A tester of the waters on the News today said that we "might" have to contemplate military action in Syria.

That's a quantum leap.

@spendius,
I think military action in Syria has already been contemplated and rejected, but it would be wonderful to watch Obama address the nation and explain how it is in our interests to invade Syria.

Unlike Libya, Syria has become a vassal state of Iran and while military intervention in Syria might not prompt an overt response from Iran, it would certainly result in an increase of Iranian supported terrorist attacks on the West...besides Obama is still counting on talking them over the finish line and doesn't want to piss the mullahs off.

Of course once Iran is successful in securing nukes, messing with its "friends" will not even cross anyone's mind, so may be this is the time to do away with Assad the Younger. You know, the one who was educated in London; who folks like Hillary Clinton have been counting on to be a moderating force in the region?

Ghaddafi, on the other hand was universely considered an oddball, and no longer the pet of any particular power. Surely NATO aircraft would finish the eccentric tyrant off.

Oh wait, that didn't happen.

There are working on it. This event has proven beyond doubt how impotent NATO is, they might as well shut the thing down, it is useless now.

@hawkeye10,
True.

It also proves how feckless a US president is that seeks to "lead from behind."

You have zero sense of shame, Finn. But there's no place for shame for an avowed and fervent supporter of war crimes. The temerity of you suggesting that any country has become the vassal state of another country is irony in the extreme.

You know, the one educated in [fill in the blank] who the US automatically supposes will be a determined and ardent supporter of US imperialism across the globe.

Again, it's truly amazing that you think that any leader, save for the bought ones, would support US hegemony in the ME. What are you on?

Tribute, once again, to the US's massive propaganda stream. Always, there's all this talk about how bad other countries' leaders are, and allowed, some are bad but when you compare them to US leaders, they are pikers and the facts scream out that you are being a hypocrite - surprise, surprise, eh?

@JTT,
You do know you are mentally ill, right ? Have you ever made a post where you didnt mention war crimes ? But what have you done to prevent them ? What would you do 23 hrs a day if there were no war crimes ?

Yup, many and I'll do many more, in fact, many many more.

I'd be ever so relieved that the US wouldn't be involved in its numerous hegemonic ventures, that the poor of the world would have a better chance for a decent life if the US wasn't stealing their wealth; aided and abetted by dumb grunts from weak countries that line up to suck Uncle Sam and reap none of the spoils.

Talk about suckers, eh, in both senses of the word.

I would be much much much more relieved because the US would actually be living up to the hype. As it is now, they are the largest hypocrites on the planet. But you're not too far behind, little one.

@JTT,
All well and good, but the Taliban, the Nazis, Communists, North Korea, North Vietnam, Iran, no-one else would be as bad would they because they are on the same side as you .

How much do you get paid to go around to web sites and spread the good word of Hamas ?

I imagine now those who have been against the uprising of the ME will have ammunition with Bin Laden praising the uprisings.

Nothing. But there's no one who would pay an idiot like you to run around spreading such obvious lies.

As I've mentioned many times, go ahead and describe, not in your own crazy meanderings, but with sources, the actions of any country that you so wish.

@revelette,
CNN played the audio of the tape earlier this morning. Didn't sound like OBL to me...but what he said sounded like him, so same difference, I guess.

I wouldn't really know, I sort of mostly go by transcripts or in this case article too early for a transcript I think. I was kind of surprised because he seemed to have stayed away from ordering jihads against westerners which makes me doubt its real too.
Quote:

In the recording, Bin Laden accuses rulers of building themselves into idols and manipulating the media to stay in power.

'So, what are you waiting for?' he implores listeners. 'Save yourselves and your children, because the opportunity is here.'

U.S. intelligence officials were aware that the recording was in the pipeline.

The video was released to jihadist websites by Al Qaeda's media arm and was obtained and translated by SITE Intelligence Group.

A full transcript has not yet been made available but it appears not to contain any direct threats to the West.

Bin Laden was known to record many of his thoughts, and intelligence officials are poring over the recordings discovered in his Pakistani compound.

But it is unclear whether he released any other recordings prior to his death or whether this is the final sermon from the terrorist mastermind.

The tape emerged ahead of a key speech by Barack Obama aimed at laying out a new U.S. strategy towards the Arab world.

President Obama will try to reset relations with the Middle East in the key address and is expected to unveil new economic aid packages for Egypt and Tunisia.

It is thought he will also encourage autocratic nations like Yemen and Bahrain to make reforms and harden his line against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Mr Obama wants to seize what the White House has called a 'window of opportunity' in the wake of Bin Laden's death.

A senior administration official said: 'Having wound down the Iraq war ... and having taken out Osama bin Laden, we are beginning to turn the page to a more positive and hopeful future for U.S. policy in the region.'

@revelette,
They only played a short segment of it (from looking at your transcript), plus they mute his voice somewhat so the translator can be heard. It could have been poor film editing, but it didn't look quite in sync to me, hence my suspicions. I could be just paranoid, too.

@JTT,
So you bore us with your propaganda out of the kindness of your heart . You read about horrific war crimes because they are juicy and excite you, then you twist culpability to exclude the perpetrators and blame the USA . What did they do to make you psychotic or were you always this way since you heard the voices telling you to hate the USA ?

As I have mentioned many times, go ahead and prove I am a war criminal or admit you are a liar .

You must think that if anything is in sync there's no reason to have suspicions or get paranoid. Sheesh!!!

The more perfect it is the more I worry about it.

@JTT,
So you have no proof, no evidence, just a feeling...or are you so wound up about hating the USA that you say stupid things ? Like every man woman and child (including babies) in the USA is a war criminal ? Or thousands of women were raped and had their breasts cut off whilst their babies watched ? Or because I was in the army I must be a war criminal.....your brain has left the building....
